Q. Why does Preston & Co charge for their design service. when some other companies don’t?
A. This is correct we initially charge our customers for our design service which is completely 100% redeemable against your order. The reason why we initially charge for our services is that we value our time as time served kitchen specialists, we are kitchen designers, installers, and feel that has worth, we invest our valuable time and efforts in producing amazing yet practical designs with your brief in mind. We are not salespeople offered up by other companies who are target driven with high staff turnaround . We get the basic design right to start with and build on the foundation to create something looks amazing and functions the way it should.
Q. I already have plans from another kitchen company do i still need to pay for design service ?
A. If you have plans and or quotes from other companies we would need to see plans and detailed quotations via email or at the showroom once we have taken look at them we can best judge if we can help you. If we feel we can achieve your budget then we would more than happy to work with you. We will always design our own kitchens and conduct our own home visit and check measure. At Preston & Co we have a very straight forward transparent approach, no hard sell, no obligation to buy, our design service is completely 100% redeemable against your order.
Island Kitchen layout
If the space is large enough, an island unit provides a multifunctional space that can work as somewhere to cook, prep, eat and entertain. It can act as a ‘bridge’, cutting down on leg work between workstations, and, in a large room, it makes the most of unused space.
Design tips: Consider incorporating a hob and sink as well as a dishwasher, wine cooler and recycling bin. There should be plenty of room left over for decent storage, too. Make sure there’s at least one metre between the island and all the cabinetry surrounding it so that you can open all doors and drawers.
Add a worktop overhang to create a breakfast bar seating area or a stepped-down surface for an informal dining table

Steps
Step 1
If you are happy with our kitchen range options as stated above and understand our kitchen range starts from £8,000 based on typical design. This service is completely 100% redeemable against your order. If you are looking for something lower than our starting range we can point you in the right direction just call us or pop into the showroom.
Step 2
Select the service you require below will then prompt you to make payment via Paypal and enter the amount for that service. (standard design service £120). You can also make payment via the showroom in person or over the phone Tel: 01225 708976 during business hours. No pressure, No hard sell, no obligation to buy, once payment has been confirmed we then email you confirmation and link to a design brief form.
Step 3
Fill in the design brief this will assist the designer in creating your initial design, you can also upload pictures, plans, etc. We will produce your designs within 3-5 working days or alternatively you can call the showroom and we will assist you in filling in the design brief.
Step 4
We will upload your designs to our online design portal. You will receive an email with access to your designs, we will contact you shortly after to see what you think and if we can improve the design or make alterations if required. Once you are happy with the design, we will then produce a quotation for your approval
Step 5
If you accept the quotation and wish to proceed with the order, we will hold the price to avoid any future price increases for up to (3 months) and we will also book provisional production date with the factory and schedule a provisional installation date. 50% of the order value is required at this point. 45% is due 14 days before delivery 5% on completion installation. We will carry out a detailed site survey 3 weeks before delivery to make sure everything is correct if we need to make any alteration to the plan or order we will act promptly to ensure no delay incur. At this stage, your initial design service charge will be offset against your order value – completely 100% redeemable.
We would only recommend you use our design service if we can both agree to work with the budget set for the project, there are several different kitchen range options from £8000 – £15000 base on typical kitchen design, bespoke kitchen ranges from £18000+.
We highly recommend our in house installation service and project managed service to avoid any possible issues you might incur during installation outside of our service. Installation average cost is £1800-£2400.

New builds or extension customers
Customers that do not require products within 6 months.
We can start the process regardless; this service helps you understand the cost and layout and avoids stress and costly mistakes.
We keep In-touch during your project, give advice and share our expertise. We only require 5% of order value to secure the price for up to (9 months) during this time we will liaise with you and or builder/ project manager, trades and provide detailed installation drawings. i/e electric supply requirements and other services to eliminated errors and make the process run smoothly and on budget, we will also book a provisional production date with the factory and schedule a provisional installation date. 45% of the order value is required 12 weeks before delivery. 45% is due 14 days before delivery 5% on completion installation.
The initial design is not fixed in stone and is flexible we can make alterations to the furniture up 3 weeks before the scheduled delivery. We always carry out a detailed site survey 3 weeks before delivery to make sure everything is correct. If we need to make any alteration to the plan or order, we will act promptly to ensure no delays are incurred and the cost is kept to a minimum.
Kitchen Design Service
£120 fully redeemable on kitchen order
If you are located within 25 miles of Melksham, we will visit you in your home to chat about how I can help with your project and check your own measurements or if you have an architect’s drawings. we will ask you lots of questions to get as much information as we possibly can, and we measure your room and take “before” pictures.
If you are not located within 25 miles from Melksham a phone consultation will take place and we will ask you to email me the measurements and drawings.
We will then go away and work on our initial design ideas, these will be emailed to you for further discussion by telephone or email or presented in the showroom when you will be free to ask me to make any revisions and changes. Based on our discussion a fully developed design with full colour 3D visuals will then be provided for your approval. When you are completely happy with the design I will give access to the Preston & Co cloud portal (to view your plans and documents).
For kitchens, this will include a detailed dimension plan, elevations, colour visuals, work-surface drawing, detailed cabinet list, suggested appliances, accessories and finishes.
